Confidentiality
All the information from their clients is strictly held in confidentiality, privileged and protected under California law. A client's personal information is never disclosed to a third-party without legal documentation, and the expressed written authorization of the client. We make it our business to enforce the rights of the people who come to us for help; and protect their right to privacy.
Affordability and Flexibility
As suspected, a decrease in structure, moving through different treatment levels, from residential treatment to day treatment or from day treatment to intensive outpatient, entails quite a considerable savings to their clients. These are recommended "transitions" as the client shows progress in treatment. All the fees and charges are openly presented to clients at the time of assessment. There are no hidden costs, or extras.
Clients are given all the information necessary to accurately assess their decisions based on all the treatment options available. If the client’s needs cannot be met, financial or otherwise, the staff explains all alternatives they have available to them. The clients are never pressured to make on-the-spot decisions, nor does the center insists they start at higher care levels unless it is clinically necessary. All forms of payment are accepted at the center, including private insurance, credit cards and self-pay. Flexible payment arrangements are welcome, and possible. All the payment agreements must be made clear in advance, prior to the start of the program, and an agreement forged in writing. Co-pays if required by the client’s insurance company are paid at the time of service.

There is definitely no substitute for hard work in the process of recovery. Diligence, motivation, a strong determination and working the 12-Step program are the keys to a successful program. Their Mission
The Center’s mission is to help their clients change from utilizing dependency as a means of coping. Every person, allegorically, in some respects, is like a broken stick. Simply said, they have their strengths and their limitations. The staff does not lean nor is dependency on them, encouraged. Clients eventually learn self-determination and self-reliance within the guidance of the 12-Steps and 12-Traditions. The goal is to teach clients to live a different and much better lifestyle through abstinence from all addictive, mood-altering substances. The clients are taught that their recovery is achieved through personal effort and insight. Once recovery has been internalized by the person, it is no longer considered "apart from" but "a part of" themselves. The main mission is to help each and every client, the center is privileged to work with, achieve a lasting sobriety.
The Least Restrictive Care
The research parameters on addiction treatment, is extensive, but clear. It is not level of treatment of a person, that predicts success in their recovery, but the length of time a person is exposed in treatment. Determining the level of care is appropriate for a client, should be individualized. This is because each person has needs and circumstances, unique only to themselves. Treatment always begins with the least restrictive level of program recommendations. If higher levels of care are necessary or mandated, the program levels are adjusted accordingly. A fundamental belief to their method of care is that less intrusion into a client's life is always the best option whenever possible.
Due to their design of the higher level of care, an increase in structuring is also involved, which denotes the greater tendency for the individual to be isolated from normal daily life. The programs are set to enable the client to develop recovery skills, and techniques for staying sober, but in an environment which does not give a false sense of security. Simply said, if clients are isolated for long periods of time, “in-house”, they can be lulled into a false sense of security.
Persons in treatment at the Expedition House Treatment Center may detach themselves of the realities and challenges, outside; which they will be facing in early recovery, once they are able to return home. This is the reason that addiction relapses is prevalent among many people who underwent treatment. They do not experience real opportunities, and temptations inside the center, as they do outside. At this, programs are also designed to involve family, friends, workmates, and the community; to constantly bridge the reality of the outside world, and the safety inside the center.
Court Mandated Treatment
Court mandate due to the interest of public safety is always the highest priority of the center. When it is very necessary for clients to participate at higher levels of care to protect the "public interest", the center is able to provide inpatient residential, work release and other levels of care as appropriate.
Certificate, Licensing, and Staff Credentials
The Expedition House Counseling Centers is Certified & Licensed by the State of California, Department of Drug and Alcohol. Expedition House is Probation Approved and the sober living is County approved. The center has applied for CARF Accreditation, which is a national accreditation board ensuring quality in the facilities through a strict review process. The professional staff includes, master's level counselors, addiction counselors and marriage family therapists, all accredited, and licensed; and open for client viewing. We also refer to and consult with outside physicians, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals, allied with the center.
