Cirque Lodge Drug Rehabilitation Center
Cirque Lodge is a residential facility, aimed for the rehabilitation of drug and alcohol addiction. Its name is derived from the beautiful glacier-carved Cascade Cirque, high in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains surrounding the Lodge.
There are two main locations at the Cirque Lodge, the Lodge and the Studio. The Lodge is a private mountain retreat with breathtaking views of both the Sundance Ski Resort and the cirque on the amazing 12,000 foot Mount Timpanogos. The Studio is placed on the main campus at the base of Mount Timpanogos, and at the mouth of Provo Canyon, a world-renowned ice climbing and fly fishing area.
The multi-storey studio spans over 95,000 square feet which is surrounded by over twelve acres of privately owned land. The Cirque Lodge was originally constructed to serve as a television production studio, where both television and feature films are produced. The facility has a 17,000 square foot sound stage which is now installed with the nation's finest multi-media indoor ropes and challenge course.
The Cirque Lodge’s primary facility is the Studio. This where the administrative offices are situated, and has large and small group meeting rooms as well as individual counseling areas. The sleeping quarters reserved for residents are first-class, and the amenities include twin therapeutic Jacuzzis, exercise and recreation rooms, a sauna, and a media room with a big screen TV. Internet access is also available for the clinical use of both residents and staff. The private parking and secluded entrance area enhances the privacy offered by Cirque Lodge. .
Upon the arrival of prospective clients, all residents are admitted to the Studio where the individual assessment is conducted and a customized program is developed. Special attention is reiterated in order to provide the best possible care for each client, including individualized treatment plans and dietary considerations. Rooms are assigned based on each resident's requirements, as determined by the assessment of the staff.
Residents assigned to the Lodge, a short12 minute leisure drive up Provo Canyon is accommodated in one of Cirque Lodge's private vehicles. At the top floor of the Lodge lies the Cirque Meditation Room, a circular room with stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains, where reading and meditation are offered in an unrivaled setting.

Treatment Programs
Primary Care Treatment
The innovative and unique treatment program available at Cirque Lodge is carefully designed to meet the initial needs and issues faced by alcoholics and addicts as they start their journey towards recovery. Treatment services are facilitated by a multi-disciplinary team of certified counselors, licensed professionals and others with extensive expertise in the treatment of substance addiction. The foundation for all treatments at Cirque Lodge is based on two main objectives, stopping the disease, and providing the necessary support for early recovery. In order to implement these objectives, Cirque Lodge provides individual counseling, extensive education, 12 step programming, group therapy, family treatment, and aftercare facilitation.
Primary Care Day Treatment
This treatment plan is designated to those individuals who qualify, the primary care day treatment is offered as an alternative to the standard primary care. This means that the client will be able to participate in the programs offered by primary care, but will be able to leave the campus every evening.
Extended Care Treatment
This program are for those who need more treatment than what primary care provides, Cirque Lodge supports the step forward approach for extended care, instead of a step down philosophy. The concept is to let the client have additional time to practice the skills learned during the primary treatment, while simultaneously getting to the core issues of why he or she would drink and use drugs so compulsively. While the client will still involve themselves in process groups and experiential therapy, a larger emphasis is placed on working the next steps in the treatment. Individual therapy sessions and daily participation in self-help groups that pertain to an individual's specific addiction are also offered. Working with a sponsor, career management counseling, and participating in service projects, are all part of the extended care program. The idea is to further pursue the practice of the skills learned during primary care while expanding their list of coping strategies.
Experiential Therapy
Cirque Lodge is known for its exceptional methods of experiential therapies that empower the process of reestablishing the connection between the body, mind and spirit. This treatment plan is offered all year-round and involves both indoor and outdoor activities.
The outdoor experiential activities include hiking, snowshoeing, and a life-enhancing helicopter-experience, or “heli-experience”. Cirque Lodge makes use of a Eurocopter EC130, one of the most advanced and quiet helicopters ever designed. The EC130 provides safe and exciting transportation over some of the world’s most spectacular mountain scenery, aiding residents experience a connection between themselves and a higher power.
Cirque Lodge also offers a comprehensive and proven effective equine therapy program. A licensed substance abuse counselor, equine therapist and horse trainer, Dave Beck, provides various equine-human challenges to the residents. These equine assisted activities are geared to assist the residents to overcome personal challenges that restrict their ability to efficiently communicate and solve problems. The successful completion of the challenges, gives a feeling of fulfillment and accomplishment.
The indoor experiential activities are facilitated by the most effective indoor ropes and challenge course. This indoor challenge course is placed in a 17,000 square foot television and movie sound stage and is complimented by a powerful 6,000-watt sound system. This specially designed course features both high and low elements, aimed in fostering trust, communication and problem solving skills, and of course, with some elements constructed just for fun.
These experiential activities are designed so that all residents, regardless of their age or gender, can participate at their own level of physical conditioning so that the activities are both therapeutic and effective.
